Clay Jonathan, an artist based in Japan, has been drawing webcomics since 1997. At Depression Comix, he illustrates the feelings of depression in bite-size strips. Here, he talks about the challenges of making comics, the power of visual art, and sharing his work far and wide.
Everyone’s experiences are different — your comics aren’t meant to speak for all. But has there been a comic that’s been especially resonant to readers?
One of the most popular strips is #183, which received around 10,000 likes and reblogs on Tumblr. Getting help for depression is necessary, but one of the more unique problems with depression is that it demotivates sufferers from seeking help. Depression takes the energy from you to see a doctor; it tricks you into thinking that…

Two days after the April 18thterror attack on a bus in Jerusalem, the Sha’are Zedek Medical Center announced that one of the casualties evacuated to that hospital had died. Shortly after that announcement on the evening April 20th, Hamas issued a communication naming the dead man as the bomber and stating that he was one of its members.
The BBC Gaza office’s Rushdi Abualouf noted the appearance of the Hamas announcement on Twitter and the next morning an article titled “Jerusalem bus blast: Hamas says member behind bombing” appeared on the BBC News website’s Middle East page.
“The Palestinian Islamist group Hamas says one of its members was behind Monday’s bus bombing in Jerusalem.
Hamas issued a statement on Wednesday night following the death of a young Palestinian man who succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the attack.
Hamas and Palestinian officials named him as…

Today is Yud Alef Nissan, the 11th of Nissan, the Rebbe’s birthday!
There has never been, nor ever will be, a more significant day in the calendar of humanity than the 11th of Nissan.
Because the month of Nissan is known as the month of miracles. As our sages teach us, that when God created the world he decided that the first day would be Rosh Hashanah, seven months later; but in fact the real purpose of the world was the first day of Nissan, the month of miracles.
Many people wonder how is there such an incredible miracle as the Jewish people.
There was German professor studying the rise and fall of Nations and as he got to the Jewish people he threw out his entire work – The Jewish people defy any logical ability, for a people scattered for thousands of years yet reborn from the ashes of…

Last week (and a couple of weeks prior) I wrote about the EU undermining Israel’s sovereignty as well as its violation of international law through their illegal construction of buildings for Palestinian-only use in Judea and Samaria.
The Israeli NGO Legal Grounds, which promotes Israel’s legal rights to Judea and Samaria, has now challenged EU Ambassador Lars Faaborg-Andersen to a debate with international law expert Prof. Eugene Kontorovich to discuss the latter’s false assertion that the 1948 Armistice Lines are an international border:
The EU Ambassador to Israel, Lars Faaborg-Andersen, participated last week in the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper’s anti-Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) conference where he reiterated the EU’s stance that Israeli “settlements” are “illegal under international law” and are “a hindrance to the peace process.”
Faaborg-Andersen additionally termed the 1949 armistice line an “internationally recognized border” even though the 1949 line is neither internationally recognized…

Is there anyone out there that doesn’t have an opinion on Jian Ghomeshi and not just the court case but the entire controversy? I doubt it. The details are shocking, some ( not me! ) would say erotic, violent, disgusting, … well the list of adjectives and adverbs applied to this man is long. Few are redeeming of his character and most would damn him to Hell.
I’m not fan of Mr. Ghomeshi. I personally think the man is disgusting. I mean beating someone up during sex suggests a level of depravity and disrespect of your fellow human being that crosses the line for me. Yes I know some people like this and that their partners do too. Pardon me folks but I don’t have to accept that. I don’t have to accept that violence is normal or acceptable.
What I accept even less is the ridiculous show trial of…
