Provincial police are seeking the public’s help as they attempt to track a two-year-old girl who may have been taken by her mother, a native of the Czech Republic.
Maria Zabranska was last seen on Sunday when her mother, Marcela Zabranska, picked her up from her home in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu for a scheduled visit. When the mother did not return, the child’s father called police. Investigators believe that Marcela Zabranska may try to remove her daughter from Canada.
When last seen, the toddler was wearing a mauve sweater with a picture of a dog on it, a dark brown jacket, a winter hat, a pink scarf and blue boots with pink stripes. She speaks mainly French, but can say a few words in English or in Czech. Her mother is described as 5-foot-6 and 190 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
