This is the first chance I’ve had to write..
I’m balancing between my 5 kids at home, my 2 in the Nicu, along with trying to have something to give to Chanan as well. Boy does he deserve some much needed TLC…
I’ve been going in to the Nicu every day and spending many hours there.
I’m driving myself in, though i just learnt that I’m not suppose to drive after a c section! i dont think any of the rules apply to a mother of preemies…
It feels right for me to be there, in the Nicu right by my babies. There really isn’t another place I’d rather be. I’m still healing from the c section. Still extremely hormonal. It doesn’t feel natural to have given birth and be separated from my babies. I just want to study their every feature, watch their every breath. Place my loving hands…

Last year I had the pleasure ofinterviewing a Swedish Zionist activist named Annika Henroth-Rothstein, who recounted her experience advocating for Israel in a country whose tiny Jewish population continues to dwindle due largely to a dangerous increase in antisemitism.
Recently Ms. Rothstein published aletter which she sent to a writer named Michel Gurfinkiel in response to his extremely important essayat Mosaic (published earlier this month) about the future of European Jewry. Here it is:
Dear Mr. Gurfinkiel,
On April 26 of this year, I was on a train with my five-year-old son Charlie. We were on our way to spend shabbat with friends in the city. You see, our town, significant in the history of Swedish Jewry, shut its synagogue in the late 90s. All that remains now is a plaque stating that there was once Jewish life here, while we are left with an hour-long…

Late wednesday night, early thursday morning, I began having contractions: “Oh, that’s prob. Nothing”, I thought to myself.
Just before, Dr. Yuval Gialchinsky texted me to check in. I told him nothing was going on, and to expect a quiet night.
“I’ll just take a nice hot shower, and go to sleep” I decided. And so, I did. An hour later, at 2 am, a cleaning lady decided it was the crucial time to empty my garbage can in my room. It woke me up. I was so frustrated. Since becoming a mother, almost 13 years ago, my sleep is light. I always have one ear and eye open, listening for my children’s needs…I guess being on call as a doula, as well as being pregnant doesn’t help with the light sleeping either…
After my initial anger at being so abruptly woken up, I realized that I was still having…

No matter how many concessions the Palestinians receive from Israel, they are always received with such bad grace and so much negativity that it’s hard to see why on earth Israel should negotiate with them about anything at all. They seem determined to remove any incentive from Israel to concede one single thing. (The fact that Israel continues to do so speaks volumes about the questionable sanity of Israel’s leaders and the American and other international authorities that pressure Israel, but that is a whole other tale.)
Exhibit A: The Palestinians demanded a prisoner release before they would even deign to consider sitting down in the same room as the Israelis in order to talk about talking about peace. And the Israelis actually gave in to this outrageous demand and have granted the release of 26 murderous terrorists as a starting offer.
But it isn’t enough. It’s a bribe says…

NEWPORT, Tenn. — A judge in Tennessee changed a 7-month-old boy’s name to Martin from Messiah, saying the religious name was earned by one person and “that one person is Jesus Christ.”
Child Support Magistrate Lu Ann Ballew ordered the name change last week, according to WBIR-TV. The boy’s parents were in court because they could not agree on the child’s last name, but when the judge heard the boy’s first name, she ordered it changed, too.
“It could put him at odds with a lot of people and at this point he has had no choice in what his name is,” Ballew said.
It was the first time she ordered a first name change, the judge said.
Messiah was No. 4 among the fastest-rising baby names in 2012, according to the Social Security Administration’s annual list of popular baby names.
The judge in eastern Tennessee said the baby was…

In one of the most famous events in the Bible, G-d commanded Abraham to sacrifice his only son. So Abraham took his son Isaac, bound him on an altar and prepared to bring him up as a burnt offering. And then the voice of the angel called to him and told him not to harm his son.
G-d did not want human sacrifices. The peace process does.
After the bloody handshake with Arafat led to an onslaught of terrorist attacks, the Israeli left invented a new sacrifice to describe the dead Israelis murdered by their new peace partners. Korbanot Shalom. Sacrifices of peace.
Peace made the service of death into a national duty. There was no telling where or when one might be called upon to become a sacrifice for peace. It might be at a mall or at a pizzeria or while riding the bus.
